Description Ian Macdonald 2003-04-16 16:25:48 EDT
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3) Gecko/20030322

Description of problem:
My Radeon 9700 Pro video card will not give 1600x1200 over DVI in Linux. It
works fine in Windows XP. In Linux, it instead falls back to 1280x1024. Over
VGA, there are no problems.

Checking through the X log file, it seems that DDC does not pick up this mode
from the monitor. Disabling DDC and adding a custom-crafted mode line does not
fix the issue, either. The monitor is a Dell 2000FP.

I applied the following patch:

http://www.penguinppc.org/~daenzer/XFree86/HuiYu/x430_radeon_all_in_o
ne.diff/x430_radeon_all_in_one.diff

and now things work fine. I came across this patch in a mailing-list archive at
www.xfree86.org.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Connect monitor over DVI
2. Boot machine
3. Run redhat-config-xfree86 (monitor is correctly detected as digital here)
4. Save config file.
5. Restart X

Actual Results: 1280x1024

Expected Results: 1600x1200
