The amanda spec file sets the client default attributes incorrectly. Here's the amanda.spec snippet: %files client %defattr(-,root,toot) /usr/lib/libamclient* shouldn't it say "root" rather than "toot"? installation of the client rpm reports an error but continues replacing toot with root. follow the URL for patch. run patch from /usr/src/redhat/ or equivalent.
You can get the version from rawhide which fixes this among some other problems with amanda. Tim
