Thank you for your submission.

There's already a package named openldap.

Please request ACLs.

This package is called openldap24, not openldap :-)

Comment 3 Matthias Runge 2013-04-26 06:33:22 UTC
Uhm, I'm sorry, I got distracted by the spec name, which is openldap (above), and should be openldap24.spec (to match the package name).

Quite a few critical blockers I can see:

* Packaging to /opt is not allowed.

* You are trying to bundle libdb like the old versions of openldap did, but bundling is bad.

* This package would interact with the default openldap database directory in /var/lib/ldap via the upgrade scripts. That would inevitably result in a breakage of the RHEL-5 openldap, thus is against the EPEL policies.

Comment 5 Laurence Field 2013-05-29 13:55:07 UTC
Thanks Jan for this initial feedback. So in principle you see no reason for this not to be included as long as the packaging is in good shape?

Comment 6 Jan Synacek 2013-05-29 14:00:58 UTC
Well, that is my main concern. I don't know if it's even possible to re-package openldap without affecting the current one in RHEL-5 or not violating any policies or guides. What are you trying to achieve? Do you simply want to have a newer openldap version?

Comment 7 Laurence Field 2013-05-29 14:02:38 UTC
Yes, we would like to run an openldap 2.4 server on RHEL5.

Comment 8 Jan Synacek 2013-05-30 05:46:00 UTC
You can try the LTB project: http://ltb-project.org/wiki/. I don't think that there is a saner way to get the latest version to RHEL-5.

Comment 9 Laurence Field 2013-07-22 08:52:48 UTC
This request is not required as we can get what we need from the openldap-servers-overlays package.
