Note, I was logged in as root when submitting this. I was logged in as James when I had this problem. Also, I rebooted since.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue. The screenshot of task manager could be useful but I am sure that abrt-watch-log is not the culprit of freezing. gnome-abrt often calls blocking functions in the main loop and this could cause the freezing. One of the blocking functions is obtaining the list of problems. A cleanup of the list of all problems could get rid of the freezing. If you have time, please do so and report the results here.
I believe that this bug has the same root cause as bug #1014085. I am going to release an updated gnome-abrt package with bug #1014085 fixed and include this bug report in the list of fixed bugs.
