Description Moez Roy 2013-05-16 04:43:40 UTC
Description of problem:
SELinux is preventing /usr/bin/gnome-shell from 'read' accesses on the file /opt/VirtualBox/virtualbox.desktop.

***** Plugin restorecon (94.8 confidence) suggests *************************

If you want to fix the label.
/opt/VirtualBox/virtualbox.desktop default label should be usr_t.
Then you can run restorecon.
Do
# /sbin/restorecon -v /opt/VirtualBox/virtualbox.desktop

***** Plugin catchall_labels (5.21 confidence) suggests ********************

If you want to allow gnome-shell to have read access on the virtualbox.desktop file
Then you need to change the label on /opt/VirtualBox/virtualbox.desktop
Do

***** Plugin catchall (1.44 confidence) suggests ***************************

If you believe that gnome-shell should be allowed read access on the virtualbox.desktop file by default.
Then you should report this as a bug.
You can generate a local policy module to allow this access.
Do
allow this access for now by executing:
# grep gnome-shell /var/log/audit/audit.log | audit2allow -M mypol
# semodule -i mypol.pp

Comment 1 Moez Roy 2013-05-16 05:00:26 UTC
Not sure if it is related to all those gcc compiler warnings when I built Virtualbox from source:

svn co http://www.virtualbox.org/svn/vbox/trunk vbox
./configure
source ./env.sh
kmk all
kmk packing

Install the .run file.

The alert tells you what to do.

restorecon -R -v /opt

Will fix your labeling problem.
