RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Paolo Bonzini 2013-05-16 10:11:12 UTC
All of kvm-intel, kvm-amd and vhost-net are now udev-activated. We do not need to load the modules at machine startup.

Comment 2 Miroslav Rezanina 2013-05-24 10:20:36 UTC
Fixed in qemu-kvm-1.5.0-2.el7

Comment 3 Shaolong Hu 2014-01-03 05:31:08 UTC
Verified on qemu-kvm-1.5.3-30.el7.x86_64:

1. in kvm.modules, x86 part is removed:

  1 #!/bin/sh
  2
  3 case $(uname -m) in
  4     ppc64)
  5         grep OPAL  /proc/cpuinfo >/dev/null 2>&1 && opal=1
  6
  7         if [ "$opal" ]; then
  8             modprobe -b kvm >/dev/null 2>&1 && kvm=1
  9         fi
 10         ;;
 11     s390x)
 12         modprobe -b kvm >/dev/null 2>&1 && kvm=1
 13         ;;
 14 esac
 15
 16 if [ "$kvm" ]; then
 17 # no reason why vhost should not work with TCG, but currently it does not
 18     modprobe -b vhost-net >/dev/null 2>&1
 19 else
 20     exit 0
 21 fi

2. kvm.modules won't be installed on x86, no such file in /etc/sysconfig/modules/

But seems vhost-net is still there?
