Description Samuel Sieb 2013-05-16 16:49:06 EDT
CUPS has been giving me selinux errors since the beginning of March. The problem has to do with it manipulating its log files. It's so bad that I have to turn off CUPS except when I need to print something. I've tried using restorecon and deleting the log files, but that didn't fix it. From my yum log and the date in the details below, it looks like it was the update from selinux-policy-targeted-3.11.1-82.fc18 to selinux-policy-targeted-3.11.1-83.fc18 where it started.

setroubleshoot: SELinux is preventing /usr/sbin/cupsd from rename access on the file error_log.
setroubleshoot: SELinux is preventing /usr/sbin/cupsd from unlink access on the file /var/log/cups/error_log.O

Details on the first one:
SELinux is preventing /usr/sbin/cupsd from rename access on the file /var/log/cups/error_log.

***** Plugin catchall (100. confidence) suggests ***************************

If you believe that cupsd should be allowed rename access on the error_log file by default.
Then you should report this as a bug.
You can generate a local policy module to allow this access.
allow this access for now by executing:
# grep cupsd /var/log/audit/audit.log | audit2allow -M mypol
# semodule -i mypol.pp

Comment 3 Samuel Sieb 2013-05-17 16:40:39 EDT
Strange that nobody filed this before. I kept holding off filing it because I figured something this obvious was either something I did wrong or would be fixed with an update soon. Maybe everyone else thought the same. :-)

Anyway, after updating to this, I don't get the CUPS errors now.
