Description of problem:
  Boxes does not start because it's frozen at read() syscall.

0 == stdin

That's standard UNIX behaviour any decent utility should follow. Read from stdin, write to stdout. Please see the man page.

Oh, I've run boxes instead of gnome-boxes. My bad. :(
