Description Huzaifa S. Sidhpurwala 2014-02-17 07:13:55 UTC
If the Postgres regression tests are run in a build tree by means of "make check", a server process is started that allows anyone on the same machine to connect to it as a database superuser. Thus, while the tests are running, there is an opportunity for another local user to gain the privileges of the operating-system user running the test suite.

Comment 2 Tomas Hoger 2014-02-17 08:13:54 UTC
This issue does not affect postgresql packages included in Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Fedora. Those packages include pre-build postgresql binaries, while this issue can only be exploited during the package build. This may affect users who rebuild postgresql source rpms for Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Fedora postgresql packages on a system with untrusted local users. Note that Red Hat does not support modified packages, see:

https://access.redhat.com/site/support/offerings/production/soc

Future postgresql updates may include changes to the build process that mitigate this issue for users who rebuild postgresql from the source packages.

Statement:

Not vulnerable. This issue did not affect postgresql packages as shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Software Collections. Refer to bug 1065863 for further details: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1065863
