Description Pedro Sampaio 2019-10-08 20:18:31 UTC
In the Linux kernel before 5.0, a memory leak exists in sit_init_net() in net/ipv6/sit.c when register_netdev() fails to register sitn->fb_tunnel_dev, which may cause denial of service.

Comment 1 Pedro Sampaio 2019-10-08 20:19:18 UTC
Created kernel tracking bugs for this issue:

Affects: fedora-all [bug 1759682]

Comment 2 Justin M. Forbes 2019-10-09 14:51:05 UTC
This was fixed for Fedora with the 5.0 stable reebases.

Comment 6 Petr Matousek 2020-04-30 17:20:47 UTC
Statement:

This issue is rated as having Low impact because of the preconditions needed to trigger the error/resource cleanup code path (system-wide out-of-memory condition, high privileges or physical access).

Comment 7 Petr Matousek 2020-04-30 17:20:51 UTC
Mitigation:

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options don't meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.
