Description Pedro Sampaio 2022-02-18 13:23:36 UTC
A segmentation fault during PCF file parsing in pcf2bdf versions >=1.05 allows an attacker to trigger a program crash via a specially crafted PCF font file. This crash affects the availability of the software and dependent downstream components.

Created bdftopcf tracking bugs for this issue:

Affects: fedora-all [bug 2056033]

Comment 2 Peter Hutterer 2022-02-21 03:01:11 UTC
Note that this CVE affects the program pcf2bdf (PCF -> BDF format, a font decompiler) which takes PCF as input. Fedora does not appear to package it.

We do package bdftopcf (BDF -> PCF, a font compiler) which produces the PCF format as *output*. I wouldn't be surprised if bdftopcf has other issue but this CVE doesn't apply.

Comment 3 Peter Hutterer 2022-03-02 01:05:50 UTC
Closing as NOTABUG, we do not ship this component in Fedora
