User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20100107 Fedora/3.5.6-1.fc12 Firefox/3.5.6 The mouse pointer disappears when moving over cards in AisleRiot Solitaire. Moving the mouse pointer off of the cards to the background causes the pointer to reappear. This disappearance has been noticed in other games such as mirrormagic where the pointer is invisible all the time, but the pointer does not disappear in Majong. This behavior has not been notice elsewhere as yet. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open AisleRiot Solitaire 2. Mouse over card(s) 3. Actual Results: The pointer disappears. Expected Results: The pointer should be visible when "over" the cards.
I have seen similar effects but with text windows, such as for Zim notes, and claws-mail. The pointer is visible until you start typing at which point it dissappears. That is normal behaviour. What is not normal is that the point remains invisible when the mouse is moved, leaves window (it is visible outside the text window) and goes back in, is clicked etc. The pointer remains invisible and you can only make a rough guess as to its location. The pointer however will re-appear if you select some text and attempt to move that selected text. Only as the pointer tries to move the text does the mouse cursor re-appear! This is very distressing, but only happens in some applications but not others. For example while writing this the mouse pointer remains completely visible in the firefox browser window, so it probably only happens for applications that makes the point disappear to prevent it hiding text from the user. It only started after installing my machine with FC12. The exact same machine running FC10 right next to this one has no such problems.
Additional. The problem is similar to the one listed as Bug 546267, and appears to be a synergy GTK interaction problem. David Thurston -- are you running synergy on your system? They give a temporary solution (a special environment variable) that works for GTK applications though they warn that it is not really a general solution.
Anthony, I suspect what is going on is that a pointer icon is missing or renumbered or renamed. Mouse over a card and the pointer is supposed to change to an "over the card" pointer... which the software can't find. I could fix this myself if I only knew what icon was missing and where in the filesystem the icons for pointers are stored... I'm not running synergy that I'm aware of.
Okay different problem.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 12 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 12. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '12'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 12's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 12 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Fedora 12 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-12-02. Fedora 12 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
