Description Lokesh Mandvekar 2014-01-10 18:38:33 UTC
Description of problem:

All,

The docker / docker-io package naming confusion has been pretty much sorted out for fedora here: https://fedorahosted.org/fpc/ticket/341 . Conclusion being docker-io becomes docker with f22 and existing docker becomes wmdocker (pretty much done already). But this doesn't quite address epel.

Since many people are looking to have docker-io renamed to docker in epel (6+), I was hoping Andreas could release wmdocker for epel, and retire the existing docker package.

Here's the procedure that Kevin Fenzi (nirik) proposed on #epel:

1. Get wmdocker maintainer to push a wmdocker into epel6 that obsoletes/provides docker, so people who update get the wmdocker package.
2. get that in stable and wait a while...
3. drop obsoletes/provides on wmdocker
4. get that in stable.
5. push new docker in that's docker-io (for docker-io rpm maintainers)

Also, comments on using the Epoch suggestion that was proposed for fedora in the ticket?

I don't think we are allowed to do this in RHEL6.
