Re-assigning to Lucy.

Notes -

This change constitutes a new button that can be accessed in the Administration Portal and User Portal.

To address this bug, we will need to start a virtual machine, try reboot it using the new button, and add a note as to its function in the Administration Guide and User Guide.
We will also have to update the screen captures such as those in this section: http://documentation-devel.engineering.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Virtualization/3.4-Beta/html-single/User_Guide/index.html#sect-Running_Virtual_machines

Also, there is a possibility that this function can only work on a data center and cluster with compatibility level of 3.4. Because we are running into some problems creating data centers and clusters with this compatibility level, a bit of troubleshooting could be required first. I will work on this starting Thursday, 27 March.

Hi Martin,

Lucy here from the RHEV docs team in BNE.

We have tried to use this feature with 3.4 data center and cluster compatibility; however, in both the User Portal and Admin Portal, the reboot button remains greyed out.

Can you help me out with any further advice on the feature?

Kind Regards,

Lucy Bopf

Hi Lucy,

Reboot from the engine works only when there is guest-agent installed and running in the target VM. Could you please check if that is the case?

Best regards,

Martin

Comment 4 Lucy Bopf 2014-04-02 05:58:12 UTC
Thanks, Martin.

Have tested and can confirm that the reboot button works when guest-agent installed and running.

Updated topics and screen shots in both Administration and User guides to cover the use of this function.

Peer reviewed.

Screenshots show reboot button.

Rebooting a Virtual Machine from the User Portal section exists, no noticeable errors.
