Comment 5 Sibiao Luo 2014-06-11 06:15:32 UTC
Tried to upgrade from qemu-ga-win-7.0-8 to qemu-ga-win-7.0-9 which can update successfully without any error prompt and the virtagent work well.

host info:
# uname -r && rpm -q qemu-kvm-rhev
2.6.32-471.el6.x86_64
qemu-kvm-rhev-0.12.1.2-2.427.el6.x86_64

guest info:
win7 64bit
virtio-win-prewhql-0.1-79
qemu-ga-win-7.0-8
qemu-ga-win-7.0-9

Steps:
1.launch a KVM guest with the virtagent.
e.g:...-device virtio-serial-pci,id=virtio-serial0,max_ports=16,vectors=0,bus=pci.0,addr=0x3 -chardev socket,path=/tmp/qga.sock,server,nowait,id=qga0 -device virtserialport,chardev=qga0,name=org.qemu.guest_agent.0
2.install virtio-serial and qemu-ga-win-7.0-8 in guest.
3.upgrade it to qemu-ga-win-7.0-9

Results:
after step 3, it can upgrade from qemu-ga-win-7.0-8 to qemu-ga-win-7.0-9 successfully.
I checked the log from 'Computer Management'----'System Tools'----'Event Viewer'----'Windows logs'----'Application' which did not see any error message log.

Best Regards,
sluo

2.6.32-471.el6.x86_64
qemu-kvm-rhev-0.12.1.2-2.427.el6.x86_64

guest info:
win7 64bit
virtio-win-prewhql-0.1-79
qemu-ga-win-7.0-8
qemu-ga-win-7.0-7

Best Regards,
sluo
