Description Sven Sternberger 2014-06-18 08:58:56 UTC
Description of problem:
On update R-java with yum gives me a list of packages to newly
install.

*The machines have installed Oracle-Java and
openjdk rpms. I think java-1.5.0-gcj shouldn't be installed.

* Are the devel packages necessary?

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
3.1.0-5.el6

How reproducible:
yum update R-java

Steps to Reproduce:
1. yum update R-java
2.
3.

Actual results:

Comment 1 Orion Poplawski 2014-09-15 15:39:02 UTC
yeah, there doesn't appear to be any reason to explicitly require java-1.5.0-gcj explicitly, should just require java. Tom - shall I make the change?

Comment 2 Tom "spot" Callaway 2014-09-29 17:55:06 UTC
Yeah. "java" should be a sufficient Requires for that subpackage. If you could go ahead and make that update for all targets, it would be helpful.

Comment 3 Orion Poplawski 2014-09-29 19:11:29 UTC
Tom - I've checked it in and am building for F21/F22, but I don't know how you want to back-port the changes to the other branches, so I'll leave that to someone else.

Comment 4 Nelson Marques 2014-10-02 14:49:36 UTC
People,

I have interest on EL6 on this package. I've removed all the permissions from my FAS account when I retired a few years ago, so I can't make this changes also.

Orion, could you please be kind enough to backport into EL6 and EL5? I do have also some interest in this change. For me to commit this I need probably a new packaging sponsor for a one time change...

According to our in-house dependency check tool, it should be OK for EL5 and EL6.
