Description of problem:

When booting from CD or disk, installer starts normally, loads
vmlinuz, initrd, inits ide, and starts installprogramm. After that
laptop screen is blank. After enabling output for external screen
on monitor: blue text-screen with some colored areas (char background
is green with white '|' on it.

PC is a Gericom PIII Coppermine with SiS-Chipset (630 for graphics)

Bug is reproducible with:
  linux
  linux text
  linux text lowres
  linux res=1024x768 (my actual screen resolution)

Some combinations of 'text', 'vga=off', 'novga', 'noprobe', 'noddc'
tested but not sucessful.

  No usable text or graphics output

Does booting with 'linux nofb' help?
