Description Michael 2015-03-02 16:20:46 UTC
Description of problem:
In Konqueror (and most other kde applications) the printer settings previous selections are not automatically remembered next time printer dialogue is used nor is there a method to save the settings. This is both: time consuming when multiple pages with same settings requirements are printed.
This bug keeps coming back, this is the fourth time I've ran into this in different releases.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kdelibs.i686 6:4.14.4-2.fc21

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Using Konqueror Browser
2.File => Print
3.Options => HTML Settings
4.Uncheck Print Images
5.Click Print
6.Then Repeat 2 and 3

Actual results:
forgets user selections

Expected results:
remember which options are ticked / unticked.

I think one problem here is that patch only dealt with khtml, and fedora uses kwebkit by default (though centos7 should be using khtml)

In the meantime, we can verify the history of that patch.

Comment 2 Michael 2015-04-14 15:54:57 UTC
is there any progress with this bug?

does the web engine make any difference to the print dialog that's displayed?

Comment 3 Rex Dieter 2015-04-14 15:58:16 UTC
Unfortunately yes, some konqueror options (like this one) may well be specific to khtml

Comment 4 Michael 2015-04-15 07:19:42 UTC
this bug also applies to

Name : kdelibs
Arch : x86_64
Epoch : 6
Version : 4.10.5
Release : 6.el7.centos

Comment 5 Rex Dieter 2015-04-15 13:24:55 UTC
You said fedora 21 in the initial submission.

Reassigning to rhel

Comment 6 Michael 2015-04-15 13:28:45 UTC
This bug is present in Fedora21, Fedora 22, CentOS7, Centos 7.1. we experienced this in older software versions and someone inhouse wrote the patch discussed above. every new release introduces the bug again.

Comment 8 Rex Dieter 2015-04-15 13:46:27 UTC
OK, let's focus on a single release (or product fedora vs rhel) then to not complicate matters.

I'll reassign back to fedora (hrm... except it seems I can't now). Lukas, can you do it?

Comment 9 Michael 2015-04-15 13:55:23 UTC
To be honest this is a bit of a learning curve for me, I'm accustomed to reading bug reports but this is the first one I filed.

If I should have pointed this at another version then I apologise.

Comment 10 Rex Dieter 2015-04-15 13:57:31 UTC
No problem, comment #6 clarified things nicely and cleared my own confusion.

Comment 11 Michael 2015-07-08 10:59:31 UTC
Has there been any progress with this bug? Will it be patched in Fedora23? anytime soon in Centos7 / 7.1?

Comment 12 Rex Dieter 2015-07-08 11:39:09 UTC
I'm not aware of anyone working on implementing this (for kwebkitpart).

You do have the option of reverting to using khtml (what the original patch was written for), then it should work as before.

Comment 13 Rex Dieter 2015-07-08 11:40:11 UTC
Oops, nevermind per comment #3, rhel should already be using khtml. so, apparently something regressed since the patch was originally introduced.

Comment 15 Jan Grulich 2015-07-16 08:57:39 UTC
The patch is indeed missing in RHEL 7.x, I don't know what it was dropped, but I can include it back. I'll try to include it in RHEL 7.2 as it's a regression compared to previous releases.
