Description Peter Trenholme 2015-05-21 19:20:12 UTC
Description of problem:
Running transaction test
Error: Transaction check error:
file /usr/include/phonon/Phonon from install of phonon-devel-4.8.3-4.fc23.x86_64 conflicts with file from package phonon-devel-4.8.3-2.fc23.x86_64

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): (See above)

How reproducible: Every time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run dnf upgrade 'phonon*'

Actual results: (See description, above)

Expected results: No error

Additional info: Since the requirement of itself is, obviously, impossible to satisfy, I think that this is likely a dependency coding typo.

Comment 1 Rex Dieter 2015-05-21 19:28:15 UTC
Thanks, probably related to recent commit:

http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/cgit/phonon.git/commit/?id=495e37fd655f7308f5ab15b45be25d54a0644ef4

I'll have to figure out why that is

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 23 development cycle.
Changing version to '23'.

(As we did not run this process for some time, it could affect also pre-Fedora 23 development
cycle bugs. We are very sorry. It will help us with cleanup during Fedora 23 End Of Life. Thank you.)

More information and reason for this action is here:

Comment 3 Dr. David Alan Gilbert 2015-09-13 18:01:18 UTC
I just hit what looks like the same thing going 22->23 where it showed the conflict.

Comment 4 Kevin Kofler 2015-09-13 22:34:49 UTC
Rex, you changed a symlink to a directory, which is not allowed.

The problem is that changing it back will in turn break things for those who already have -4, I'm afraid. :-(

Comment 5 Rex Dieter 2015-09-14 01:04:30 UTC
I thought it was the other direction that was problematic, ie, replacing a dir with a symlink

Comment 6 Rex Dieter 2015-09-14 01:06:39 UTC
Dang, looks like it's both according to:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:Directory_Replacement

Comment 7 Rex Dieter 2015-09-15 13:07:19 UTC
Working on it today.
