Set sound to anything other than 100%, and when a pidgin notification is received, sound resets to 100%. However, if I play youtube videos, or system notifications, sound volume stays where I expect it too. I am sorry, I also forgot to mention, I am running rawhide, which I upgraded from F22. Well wish I could delete my comments. I don't know why I didnt think of this before, but I went into Pidgin's settings, and changed my sound method from Automatic to ALSA. Now my volume doesn't reset everytime a sound plays. Change the settings to ALSA/OSS/PulsAudio don't solve it. At all settings the same result. Any known workarounds? Bust a pair of headphones and was deafened 4 times thanks to bug today. Can anything be done in regards to this issue? It damaged my hearing enough already. This is happening on Fedora 23 also. I was able to get around this issue in Fedora 23 on Pidgin. I went into Pidgin Preferences, under "Sounds", changed "Method" to "Command". Then "Sound command" I set as "mplayer %s". This obviously requires mplayer to be installed. Another program might also be suitable. This makes pidgin play sounds in mplayer, rather than directly through GStreamer. MPlayer doesn't change the volume. Try setting 'flat-volumes' to 'yes' in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf. (In reply to Jan Synacek from comment #15) > Try setting 'flat-volumes' to 'yes' in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf. Fedora 22 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2016-07-19. Fedora 22 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.
