Same problem since f22 (IIRC), it worked correctly previously, ThinkPad x240, attaching alsa-info.
Workaround proposed in https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=943982#c8: > OK, could you try to add the following to /lib/firmware/alsa/test > > [codec] > 0x10ec0292 0x17aa5036 0 > [hint] > power_save_node = 0 > > ... and add patch module option to snd-hda-intel, e.g. put the following in > /etc/modprobe.d/50-hda.conf: > > options snd-hda-intel patch=,alsa/test > > (Note that the comma after "patch=" is no typo but intentional, meaning to skip > the first object.) (In reply to Jaroslav Škarvada from comment #4) > Workaround proposed in https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=943982#c8: > > > OK, could you try to add the following to /lib/firmware/alsa/test > > > > [codec] > > 0x10ec0292 0x17aa5036 0 > > [hint] > > power_save_node = 0 > > > > ... and add patch module option to snd-hda-intel, e.g. put the following in > > /etc/modprobe.d/50-hda.conf: > > > > options snd-hda-intel patch=,alsa/test > > > > (Note that the comma after "patch=" is no typo but intentional, meaning to skip > > the first object.) The proposed workaround doesn't work for me. For me it cracks upon login to Xfce. It cracks once. It may be also pulseaudio, investigating. I have the same problem on a Thinkpad L450. Cracks after boot and after login and when I start some applications like telegram. The workaround doesn't work, because there is no /lib/firmware/alsa in my system. The problem existed in F22 and still does in F23. I had an L420 before (running F22 and F23beta) without those problems. (In reply to Sascha Zantis from comment #6) > I have the same problem on a Thinkpad L450. Cracks after boot and after > login and when I start some applications like telegram. > > The workaround doesn't work, because there is no /lib/firmware/alsa in my > system. > You can create this directory, it's optional, but it didn't help for me, so my issue is probably different problem than the mentioned aggressive power savings of some HD codecs. > The problem existed in F22 and still does in F23. > > I had an L420 before (running F22 and F23beta) without those problems. IIRC mine problem started cca. a month or two after f22 release and is still there. So I am encountering probably different issue, I am going to investigate. The latest updates from a few minutes ago apparently fixed it for me.

I confirm that there is no crackling sound on boot / resume from suspend. kernel-4.2.5-300.fc23.x86_64 kernel-modules-4.2.5-300.fc23.x86_64 Problem solved. Thanks I can confirm that the problem disappear for me with the latest 4.2.5 kernel update, even on f22: kernel-4.2.5-201.fc22 Thanks. Thank you. The problem is back in kernel-4.3.3-301.fc23.x86_64. Can anyone confirm? Yes, can confirm. Not exactly the same problem for me (No crackling sounds at boot), but similar behaviour, for example a few seconds after stopping mplayer/vlc etc. *********** MASS BUG UPDATE ************** We apologize for the inconvenience. There is a large number of bugs to go through and several of them have gone stale. Due to this, we are doing a mass bug update across all of the Fedora 23 kernel bugs. Fedora 23 has now been rebased to 4.7.4-100.fc23. Please test this kernel update (or newer) and let us know if you issue has been resolved or if it is still present with the newer kernel. If you have moved on to Fedora 24 or 25, and are still experiencing this issue, please change the version to Fedora 24 or 25. If you experience different issues, please open a new bug report for those. *********** MASS BUG UPDATE ************** This bug is being closed with INSUFFICIENT_DATA as there has not been a response in 4 weeks. If you are still experiencing this issue, please reopen and attach the relevant data from the latest kernel you are running and any data that might have been requested previously. |
