Output of typescript demonstrating the problem
Install gstreamer-plugins-devel. 1) The error message should be clearer 2) Now I am getting a message that gnome-media needs Xft. 1) What was confusing? The fact that it looked for gstreamer-0.5? That was actually an optional check, the real error was from gstreamer-libs-0.6. It is understandable to think that gstreamer-libs-0.6 would be in gstreamer-devel, but there is no required correlation between pkg-config module names and RPM package names. In any case this isn't really a bug in gnome-media. 2) Install XFree86-devel. The BuildRequires in the latest package should pick this up at least. What was confusing was that is was talking about gstreamer not gstreamer-plugin 2) I already have XFree86-devel installed. But the program is talking about Xft not XFree86-devel? Please stop closing this, the problem is still outstanding! Xft is included in XFree86-devel. Without more information I can't help you further. This bug is filed against RHEL 3, which is in maintenance phase. During the maintenance phase, only security errata and select mission critical bug fixes will be released for enterprise products. Since this bug does not meet that criteria, it is now being closed.
