Please paste the output of cat /proc/bus/input/devices before switching the KVM and afterwards. Also do you have any BIOS options related to PS/2, Legacy USB Support, etc? Does it occur if you adjust those options? I can't cut/paste before and after, my mouse don't work when I switch back over. I can't cut/paste without a functionable mouse. Legacy USB support is not a PS/2 issue. The KVM works just fine in WIndows machines. cat /proc/bus/input/devices > somefile and save it to upload later/scp to another computer. Saying it works in Windows isn't really that helpful as the way that Windows interacts with the hardware is probably different. Please can you provide the information asked for, to enable me to start to debug this. I don't see how others could NOT be having this problem, I've tried 5 different brands of mice (both Microsoft and Logitech models) and I've tried switching my KVM from my Belkin 2 port to my Belkin 4 port, same problem on both KVM models, and same problem occurs on my Linksys 2 port KVM. so those are all popular models, so I don't see how others are not having this problem.. I bought the Belkin's because I was told they were 'active' KVM's so I wouldn't have this problem. but they still exist, so I don't know what to do now. Then when I move the mouse around more, it throws up psmouse.c: wheel mouse at isa0060/serial/input0 lost synchronization, throwing 1 bytes away then moves the screen around and around thru the command history, so I don't know what the deal is. It happens on more then one model, so what does that have anything to do with it? I know psmouse.proto=bare does. That actually fixes the problem entirely, except, the mouse wheel doesn't work anymoore when I use "bare". so I might try using the resetafter thing instead, I'll let you know. thanks nope, psmouse.resetafter=3 doesn't work, nor does psmouse.resetafter=1 only thing that seems to work so far is: psmouse.proto=bare but when I do that, the mouse wheel doesn't function. which I guess is ok for now, but still rather annoying when I can't use the mouse wheel to scroll thru documents. so I don't know what to do.... but this happens on EVERY mouse I have, both microsoft and logitech and off-brands, so I know its not just me having this problem, in fact I did google searches and apparently there are alot of others that are too. thats how I got the idea to use psmouse.proto=bare, because someone else said they got that to work on some mice. I understand it's not just you, it seems to depend on the KVM by the looks though, as I'm using a KVM fine and I know others are too. seems to be related to Belkin switches, but Belkin refuses to do anything about it because "they don't care if it works in linux or not" but then, other switches like LInksys for example, have other issues, so I've yet to find a KVM that works flawlessly in LInux. Its craziness. Just as an FYI - I tried installed Core 3 and ran into the same issue. I added psmouse.proto=imps to the boot parameters and that seems to have fixed ot for me. I don't see that mentioned anywhere in the thread, that's why I bring it up. YMMV. psmouse.proto=imps was the first thing I tried. Didn't work for me. only thing that does work for me is psmouse.proto=bare but then the mouse wheel doesn't respond. funny thing about this problem, this happens with both Microsoft and Logitech mice, so it cannot be just me. I have the Belkin SOHO series 4-port KVM. same problem with Belkin SOHO series 2-port KVM. and yeap, my first KVM was a Linksys, which I agree has other issues. FOr example, Logitechs MouseWare software doesn't work with LInksys KVM's, which kinda sucks.. I haven't tried my old LInksys KVM with FC3 yet. All I know is, I didn't have this problem at all in FC1 or FC2.... This just started happening reciently when FC3 was released.. so it must be some weird thing with the latest kernel sets, or something.. Never had this problem with Redhat 9, Fedora COre 1, or Fedora Core 2. at all.. with any KVM, it just suddenly became a major issue in Fedora Core 3 for some reason. I'm running a MS Optical Mouse and an ICS-124 KVM switch, and the only thing that has made it usable is the psmouse.proto-bare workaround. This works 98% of the time, however, occasionally the mouse cursor just vanishes and only a reboot will bring it back. This may, or may not be related to the above problem it is, thats exactally my problem too. except that my cursor doesn't vanish. seeeee, I told you it isn't just the Belkin switches. I'm having the same problem and would like to try adding the psmouse.proto=bare boot option. Please excuse the noob question, but where are boot options added? Thanks in your grub.conf file. under /boot/grub. you add psmouse.proto=bare to the kernel line of your grub.conf file. bare is the only thing that did work, but not a good solution because that disables the mouse wheel entirely. which doesn't solve the problem. An update has been released for Fedora Core 3 (kernel-2.6.12-1.1372_FC3) which may contain a fix for your problem. Please update to this new kernel, and report whether or not it fixes your problem. If you have updated to Fedora Core 4 since this bug was opened, and the problem still occurs with the latest updates for that release, please change the version field of this bug to 'fc4'. Thank you. My version is slightly different than above: - the mouse (logitech optical wireless) works for everything until I switch my KVM (raritan switchman) to another machine and come back - then the scroll-wheel is forever screwed up: scrolling down moves the mouse pointer off the right of the screen, and scrolling up just makes the mouse disappear This harware configuration works fine with FC1.
