Description Don Swaner 2017-03-01 16:47:29 UTC
Description of problem:
After logging out of a Gnome Classic session, when logging in to either a Gnome Wayland or Gnome Xorg session results in a "hybrid" session.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gnome-shell-3.22.3-1.fc25.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Log into Gnome Classic
2. Log out of Gnome Classic
3. Log into Gnome Wayland or Gnome Xorg

Actual results:
The resulting session is a "hybrid", mostly Classic session. The top and bottom menu / task bars are still displayed.

Expected results:
A standard Gnome session.

Additional info:
Only rebooting fixes the problem.

Also affecting Korora 25 with GNOME 3.22.

> GNOME_SHELL_SESSION_MODE=classic

This environment variable either needs to be unset, or set to "user". As it's how GDM tells gnome-shell which session mode to use, it's up to GDM to (un)set it correctly.
