Description of problem: After logging out of a Gnome Classic session, when logging in to either a Gnome Wayland or Gnome Xorg session results in a "hybrid" session. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): gnome-shell-3.22.3-1.fc25.x86_64 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Log into Gnome Classic 2. Log out of Gnome Classic 3. Log into Gnome Wayland or Gnome Xorg Actual results: The resulting session is a "hybrid", mostly Classic session. The top and bottom menu / task bars are still displayed. Expected results: A standard Gnome session. (In reply to Don Swaner from comment #0) > GNOME_SHELL_SESSION_MODE=classic This environment variable either needs to be unset, or set to "user". As it's how GDM tells gnome-shell which session mode to use, it's up to GDM to (un)set it correctly.
