Description Orion Poplawski 2017-03-15 21:46:31 UTC
Description of problem:

Looks like ga 5.5 is available.

Also, more packages are moving away from atlas and using openblas. I would suggest doing the same.

Also, this packages seems a bit unmaintained. Are you still interested in maintaining this package?

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 27 development cycle.
Changing version to '27'.

I doubt ga is maintained. I have not received an answer for over a year now https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1357022

Comment 3 David Brown 2017-09-05 17:37:29 UTC
It is maintained they just don't have a lot of exposure outside the Scientific Computing space. They've moved their development to https://github.com/GlobalArrays/ga and have been moving forward. I've been waiting for 5.6.2 to come out as it has some fixes for nwchem.

Comment 4 marcindulak 2017-09-05 20:03:21 UTC
Great, thanks. It may be worth waiting a bit with EPEL7 for CentOS 7.4,
but I've been receiving mails from Rawhide about nwchem build failing due to missing libga.so.0()(64bit)(mpich-x86_64) missing, also for i386 and openmpi.

Can you have a look what's the status of ga in Rawhide?

Comment 5 marcindulak 2017-11-18 13:03:11 UTC
CentOS 7.4 is out, and ga-5.6.1 in Fedora 27, can you build ga for EPEL7 bug #1357022?

Comment 6 marcindulak 2017-11-18 20:43:21 UTC
Or maybe I should start using the ga bundled inside of nwchem.

Currently I unable to build a working executable of neither nwchem 6.6 nor 6.8 on fedora 27 bug #1514542

Comment 7 marcindulak 2017-11-21 20:40:37 UTC
We need to commit whether ga will be always kept in sync with nwchem in both Fedora and EPEL, or I should start bundling the ga included in nwchem.

Comment 8 marcindulak 2018-05-09 21:02:57 UTC
Nwchem offers now officially a possibility of building against a separate ga https://github.com/nwchemgit/nwchem/issues/40.

I'm considering retiring nwchem from Fedora/EPEL due to lack of the ga package.
