Description Sandro Bonazzola 2017-04-06 07:20:21 UTC
ovirt-engine package is now pulling in postgresql, dwh, websocket-proxy and other tools.

Most of those services can run within separate systems / containers.
We should introduce ovirt-engine-minimal subpackage with the bare minimum to run ovirt-engine and keep ovirt-engine as full blown setup rpm.

This will allow to have unchanged behaviour when installing ovirt-engine and to use ovirt-engine-minimal for containerizing / podifing the engine.

Do we have plans to split userportal/backend to their own containers at some point? How does this bug align with these plans?

Comment 2 Yedidyah Bar David 2017-04-06 07:57:59 UTC
See also the discussion in bug 1084489.

Comment 3 Martin Perina 2017-04-06 08:33:10 UTC
We should get rid of PostgreSQL RPM dependency when we move to SCL version of PG9.5/9.6, which is planned fo 4.2

Comment 4 Juan Hernández 2017-08-23 09:53:31 UTC
The ovirt-containers project is now frozen. Simplifying that was my reason to work on this bug. If there other reasons to continue working on this, then please re-assign the bug. If not, then consider closing it.

Comment 5 Sandro Bonazzola 2017-08-23 13:45:44 UTC
I'm fine with closing this.
