Would you happen to have a "Iomega ZipCD 650 USB CDRW" drive? Does the RPM's from http://people.redhat.com/davidz/cvs20050103/ fix it? If not please attach the contents of lshal to this bug. Created attachment 109296 [details]
lshal output
no; these are ordinary SCSI cdroms.
The can-not-close-door behavior with 'eject -a1' was confirmed with another
drive also.
What kernel are you using? Created attachment 109297 [details]
secondary lshal output
Also seen here on IDE cd-rom (Dell D800)
Kernel 2.6.9-1.1049_FC4
hal-0.4.2.cvs20050103-1 does not fix it. Verified on 2.6.9-1.681_FC3, and vanilla 2.6.10 kernel Hmm; interesting.. Does this also apply to hal-0.4.2-1.FC3 from the latest FC3 update? I do not have a reachable test-machine with this configuration, but Warren verified it for kernel-2.6.9-1.724_FC3 + hal-0.4.2-1.FC3. Can anyone confirm if this still happens with hal 0.5.x and the latest kernel from Rawhide? Thanks This is still happening for me using eject -a 1 constantly ejects. 2.6.11-1.1191_FC4 hal-0.5.0.cvs20050318-1 No traffic on this bug report for the past 16 months... Are people still experiencing this with the latest rawhide? I'm still not convinced hal is doing something wrong and I'm hoping the kernel is now fixed. Based on the date this bug was created, it appears to have been reported against rawhide during the development of a Fedora release that is no longer maintained. In order to refocus our efforts as a project we are flagging all of the open bugs for releases which are no longer maintained. If this bug remains in NEEDINFO thirty (30) days from now, we will automatically close it. If you can reproduce this bug in a maintained Fedora version (7, 8, or rawhide), please change this bug to the respective version and change the status to ASSIGNED. (If you're unable to change the bug's version or status, add a comment to the bug and someone will change it for you.) Thanks for your help, and we apologize again that we haven't handled these issues to this point. The process we're following is outlined here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/F9CleanUp We will be following the process here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping to ensure this doesn't happen again. This bug has been in NEEDINFO for more than 30 days since feedback was first requested. As a result we are closing it. If you can reproduce this bug in the future against a maintained Fedora version please feel free to reopen it against that version.
