Description Chris Jones 2005-01-25 23:45:53 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20050110 Firefox/1.0 (Debian package 1.0+dfsg.1-2)

Description of problem:
/etc/sysconfig/saslauthd sets the defualt authentication mechinism to shaddow, rather than pam, this breaks auth for anyone not useing shadow

MECH=shadow

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
sendmail-8.13.1-2

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install sendmail
2. Install yp (nis)
3. Setup sendmail to use auth on sending
4. Try to send mail, useing auth from a valid yp user

Actual Results: Failed to send mail, with user/password unknown type error

Expected Results: Mail should have been accepted, as the user is a valid user

I think you got the component wrong. /etc/sysconfig/saslauthd is owned by
cyrus-sasl-2.1.19-3 ...
