err... I got that backwards.... it should be: console=tty0 console=ttyS#,9600n81 ping Agreed, that'd be better, but at the same time it's unlikely this will be fixed for RHEL 3, since there are a number of obvious workarounds and there's no reason it would be a showstopper bug for u7. This is trivial to fix with e.g. sed in your %post, or to fix by hand after installation. This should also be trivial to fix in anaconda. Getting every customer to work around a known bug that keeps them from using a local monitor and keyboard isn't ideal. How about RHEL3 U8 ? This issue is on Red Hat Engineering's list of planned work items for the upcoming Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.8 release. Engineering resources have been assigned and barring unforeseen circumstances, Red Hat intends to include this item in the 3.8 release. Excellent... thank you Red Hat.
