Description of problem:

General Git operations have the potential to create hundreds of disk lookups, what has a negative impact on performance on GlusterFS. GlusterFS team has provided a negative lookup caching feature that can be enabled as a mount parameter.
We need that OpenShift supports mount parameters for GlusterFS storage.

It looks like this has been done upstream in Kube https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1535041

Next step is to verify if storage plugins need implement this as well.

Mount options are implemented in OpenShift 3.6 as alpha / technology preview

In 3.8, it will be possible to set them in a storage class so all dynamically provisioned volumes will have the right mount options.

Is there anything missing?

I'm closing this given this is tracked through BZ 1693084. We should have a different bug in OCS to allow the group-nl-cache profile to be applied in the storage class.
