This problem occured before a long time ago, perhaps 2 or more years ago on ppc, and if I'm not mistaken, it was a bug in the ppc kernel fb code. I believe our installer defaults to using "fbdev" because our PPC stuff is really developed for IBM pSeries/iSeries where fbdev is necessary. While I think this default needs to remain there for IBM hardware, I think the default for Fedora should be the native video drivers. Perhaps our config tool should use dmidecode to determine if it is running on IBM server or Mac hardware? No idea if that's a good idea or not. Reassigning to kernel component for fbdev issue. |
