Description Alexandre Marangone 2018-07-10 20:12:36 UTC
Description of problem:
ceph-ansible supports ceph-volume provided that the vg/lv are created manually in RHCS 3 but the dashboard doesn't display disk metrics when OSDs are provisioned with ceph-volume.
The data is shown in host/gauge/osd/<vg>-<lv>/perf/ on graphite as 0 (i.e. we have a line).

Well, that enter button tricked me on the update above. Trying again:

Hello!

I have a customer that needs to have the fix implemented in their current Ceph 3.0 environment.

Are there any known compatibility issues between these? Is there any option for the customer to begin using the fixed version with their current setup?

Thank you!

Hi,

unfortunately, the underlying design (as well as technology) of Ceph dashboard changed completely between Ceph 3.0 and Ceph 3.1 releases.

The fixed version would not work for the customer as it depends on numerous changes that were made to the ceph-mgr daemon for Ceph 3.1.

Fixing this in 3.0 would require a completely separate fix. It is one of the reasons why we bumped the major version number of cephmetrics (Ceph dashboard) from 1.0 to 2.0.

Awesome. We suspected this might be the case, but wanted to make sure before we told them nack.

Take care!

Verified with cephmetrics-ansible-2.0-5.el7cp.x86_64

Dashboard now shows disk metrics for a cluster with 'ceph-volume' provisioned OSDs.
