Description Mihir Lele 2018-08-22 17:27:09 UTC
Description:

Page should auto-refresh after subscriptions have been modified on the Satellite webui. If we add/remove some quantities of subscriptions from the satellite webui then we need to refresh the browser manually for the new modifications to reflect in the sat webui.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 6.4

Mihir, please do not use webui component for any bug found in UI. This feels as something specific to subscriptions page.

Comment 2 Brad Buckingham 2018-08-23 21:42:58 UTC
Mihir,

Do you have an internal reproducer for this one?

I just tried the following operations on an internal reference Satellite 6.4 instance and did not have to do a page refresh to see the resulting changes.

1. Add Subscriptions
2. Edit subscription
3. Delete Subscriptions

Note: I am using Chrome; however, I don't think browser should impact this one.

Comment 3 anerurka 2018-08-24 17:26:04 UTC
Hi Brad,

I do not have a reproducer atm apart my local KVM set-up.

But can observe that auto-refresh does-not happen when we add sub in Satellite, while in-case when we try remove sub it performs browser refresh.

tested on:

FireFox : version 57.0.1(64 bit)

Chrome: Version 68.0.3440.106 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Hi Ameya,

Apologies, but I do have a few more questions.

Do you see any errors in the browser console?
Do you see any errors in the production.log? (Can you attach a foreman-debug that captures the scenario).
Can you attach a video/recording of the scenario?

Thanks!

Comment 5 Mihir Lele 2018-10-03 13:50:40 UTC
Hey Brad,

I am attaching screen recording and also the foreman tail logs that I captured during this process

Comment 8 Bryan Kearney 2018-10-04 17:22:44 UTC
This sounds like a bug, removing the RFE.

Comment 10 Peter Vreman 2019-05-21 11:43:58 UTC
I have verified the behaviour again with 6.5.0-GA after editing the subscriptions inside Sat6.
After confirmation dialog you are correctly redirected to the Subscirpotions page.

.... BUT.... the problem is that the updated subscriptions are not show yet

then looking in the tasks list the reason is clear, there is a background task started 'Update Upstream Subscription' that needed (in my case) 2 minutes to finish.

To summarize, the behaviour is all correct.

An improvement for the user experience (adapting the user expectations) shall be that the already existing confirmation dialog to 'change X entitlements' have an information line that mentiosn that the refreshing the subscriptions is done in the background and can take a few minutes.

Connecting redmine issue https://projects.theforeman.org/issues/28659 from this bug

Comment 14 Bryan Kearney 2020-02-07 01:00:29 UTC
Moving this bug to POST for triage into Satellite 6 since the upstream issue https://projects.theforeman.org/issues/28659 has been resolved.
