In the output when I adjust the balance it works fine for me. As it turns out, playing the alert sounds is not the source of the problem. As Sumantro observed, the problem is the the balance gets shifted all the way to the side. The balance shift is caused by scrolling down the Sound panel with your mouse's scroll wheel. If the mouse's pointer crosses over the Balance control while scrolling the Balance control will shift to one side or the other depending on the direction of scroll. This is easy to miss due to the low contrast of the balance control and not expecting such behaviour. |
