Description Ram Nainsingh Tiruwa 2019-05-24 03:45:00 UTC
Guest OS version identifier needs to be updated in satellite.

It needs to be updated according to this.

https://vdc-repo.vmware.com/vmwb-repository/dcr-public/da47f910-60ac-438b-8b9b-6122f4d14524/16b7274a-bf8b-4b4c-a05e-746f2aa93c8c/doc/vim.vm.GuestOsDescriptor.GuestOsIdentifier.html

satellite 6.5

In all version of 6.5

At the time of Import rhel-8 VM from compute resource, unable to guest OS identifier as rhel 8

Actual results at the time of import it shows Guest-OS as "Microsoft MS-DOS"

Expected results at the time of import it should Guest-OS as "rhel8_64Guest"

Thanks,
Patrick

VERIFIED
on sat6.6.0 snap 19

- i added a testing vmware instance as a compute resource and I also created a rhel8 VM using vsphere.
- then i checked for the running VM's from satellite and my VM was correctly showing: "Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 (64-bit)" for the OS
