Description Robert McSwain 2019-07-05 18:32:07 UTC
1. Proposed title of this feature request
[RFE] Need an automated method to select which alerts and event notifications a user is subscribed to in RHV

3. What is the nature and description of the request?
We would like a method that can be automated to select the alerts a user is subscribed to in RHV. We have ansible to automate the actual email notifier configuration on the RHV engine, but there is currently no way to automate which "tick boxes" get selected in the UI for alerts that a user wants to receive. We still have to manually go in and select those. We would like to automate this either through the API, or even some configuration file we can manage with Ansible.

4. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
We need to be able to monitor RHV without having to hack on the database.

5. How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)
An additional API endpoint that will allow us to select which alerts and event notifications we want to subscribe Pagerduty to.

6. For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented.
We will hit the API with curl or python to enable and disable alerts.

7. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?
No

8. Does the customer have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target (i.e. RHEL8, RHEL9)?
No but it would be great if it were available in the next 7.x or 8 release if possible.

9. Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?
No

10. List any affected packages or components.
RHV API, DB etc.

11. Would the customer be able to assist in testing this functionality if implemented?
Yes, happy to.
