Description Morten Stevens 2019-08-26 18:49:59 UTC
Description of problem:

Please build libmspack for EPEL 8.

Additional info:
Please let me know if you are not interested in maintaining the package on EPEL 8 branch.

Comment 1 Dan Horák 2019-08-26 19:03:18 UTC
branch requested, please apply for co-maintainership :-)

Comment 2 Orion Poplawski 2019-08-26 19:43:52 UTC
libmspack is in RHEL8 so this is forbidden from EPEL8.

Available Packages
libmspack.i686 0.7-0.1.alpha.el8.3 rhel-8-for-x86_64-appstream-rpms
libmspack.x86_64 0.7-0.1.alpha.el8.3 rhel-8-for-x86_64-appstream-rpms

Comment 3 Dan Horák 2019-08-26 19:59:35 UTC
Right, I missed the error message from request-branch - This package is already an EL package and is built on all supported arches, therefore, it cannot be in EPEL. So all should be good.

Comment 4 Morten Stevens 2019-08-29 17:41:08 UTC
Alright, I'm sorry. I thought it was missing because of this error:

No matching package to install: 'libmspack-devel >= 0.8'
Not all dependencies satisfied
Error: Some packages could not be found.

See: https://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org//work/tasks/2860/37302860/mock_output.log

Is it possible to rebase libmspack to the latest upstream release in RHEL8?

Comment 5 Orion Poplawski 2019-08-29 17:44:18 UTC
You'll need to file a bug against RHEL8 for that...

Comment 6 Dan Horák 2019-08-29 17:44:52 UTC
It is not impossible, please open a RHEL bug asking for it. The other question is if the actual dependency is really so strict, so 0.7 won't work.

Comment 7 Morten Stevens 2019-08-29 20:37:04 UTC
cabextract needs (In reply to Dan Horák from comment #6)

Yes, it looks like that we really need libmspack 0.8 or higher since cabextract 1.8.

I have tried it with 0.7 and it doesn't build against libmspack 0.7.
