I have the lutris package for RHEL 8 here ready https://github.com/jatin-cbs/Lutris-RHEL-CentOS-8 But currently we dont have cabextract in EPEL so we are using cabextract from fedora 28. Just once cabextract in ready in EPEL I will like to maintain lutris package on EPEL. :)
Can you please file your requests against the existing fedora packages? That allows the maintainer(s) to see your request and indicate to you if they want to maintain their package also in epel8. epel-release is just the package that provides the version and repo files, we have no special army of packages we can direct to help you. Sorry.
All right. But we need libmspack-devel as build-dependency to build cabextract.
Is there any specific reason why we finally don't go for cabextract 1.7 from Fedora 29 to get this solved? A simple rebuild seems to work...
Rex, may I kindly ask you to respond or to grant permissions to the epel8 branch?

I have been maintaining the package alongside cabextract rpm also it has been accepted upstream https://github.com/lutris/website/commit/c1be4af47259c4d6161df606d830913bc2537cd3 So EPEL is no longer needed but it may conflict with existing users if it will be in the EPEL so please do inform me on my github https://github.com/jatin-cbs/Lutris-RHEL-CentOS-8
I will remove the cabextract from my repository if its available in EPEL and also i will send pull request to the website.
I need cabextract for the playonlinux package in EPEL 8, reopening.
I can work on this today (and gave commit access to you robert)
+1
