Description Bill Adams 2005-12-01 20:35:23 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0

Description of problem:
After a reboot, cupsd would not start. /var/log/cups/error_log said socket address already in use. lsof showed ypbind listening on ipp port 631.

Workaround was:
service ypbind stop
service ypbind start
service cups start

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
ypbind-1.12-5

How reproducible:
Couldn't Reproduce

Additional info:

The bug is that ypserv listens on a well-known port.

Comment 1 Bill Adams 2005-12-01 20:38:43 UTC
Meant to say ypserv-2.8-6

Comment 2 Bill Adams 2006-02-16 19:05:13 UTC
I think this bug can be fixed in the ypserv rpm, so that ypserv starts after
cupsd, and any other root daemon. AFAIK, ypserv binds INADDR_ANY, to any
available privileged port.
