Description Heðin 2019-11-28 18:39:58 UTC
Description of problem:
Documentation does not inform about how to handle multiple disk controllers.
An example of such a setup is Dell R740xd with Dell BOSS module(ahci driver) for OS and H330(LSI3008) for OSD's.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install rhel
2. Reboot a few times, at some point ahci driver is loaded after the H330 driver
3. result is that boot device name has changed.

Expected results:
Troubleshooting section should state that this can be an issue and link to https://access.redhat.com/solutions/2720551

Comment 4 Heðin 2020-01-19 23:06:07 UTC
Dell seems to push/recommend to use their BOSS module for hardware raid on m2.
This implies that this issue will not be a corner case but rather common.
