Description Troy Dawson 2020-01-02 22:37:58 UTC
Please build rubygem-json_pure for epel8.
It build fine from the F31 branch of Fedora.

Branching

Comment 2 Vít Ondruch 2020-01-03 13:13:19 UTC
Wouldn't it be better to just disable the relevant parts of the test suite, as it is already done for various other JSON implementations?

https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/rubygem-multi_json/blob/master/f/rubygem-multi_json.spec#_50

But this should be just EPEL specific change. I would not like to see any conditionals or what not in Fedora.

Comment 3 Troy Dawson 2020-01-03 14:43:09 UTC
I was initially thinking of that, changing the rubygem-multi_json.spec.
But, since rubygem-json_pure built so cleanly, I would rather have them both be the same as Fedora.
Plus, it saves someone having to request it later on.

Comment 4 Vít Ondruch 2020-01-03 15:02:34 UTC
I don't think it is in good shape in Fedora neither there is any use for it in Fedora, since JSON is part of Ruby StdLib.

Comment 5 Troy Dawson 2020-01-03 15:10:00 UTC
If you say so, then I will agree.
It looks like the only package that really needs it in Fedora is rubygem-jgrep, and nothing depends on that.
I will close this request.
If anyone else requests it for something else, we will re-discuss it then.

This dependency is questionable:

https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/rubygem-jgrep/blob/master/f/rubygem-jgrep.spec#_24

I don't think that the OP from bug 1219502 cared about JRuby, they were installed just by accident. Well, never mind anyway :)
