.Built in schedule for purging expired RBD images Previously, the storage administrator could set up a cron-like job for the `rbd trash purge` command. With this release, the built-in schedule is now available for purging expired RBD images. The `rbd trash purge schedule add` and the related commands can be used to configure the RBD trash to automatically purge expired images based on a defined schedule. See the link:{block-dev-guide}#defining-an-automatic-trash-purge-schedule_block[_Defining an automatic trash purge schedule_] section in the _{storage-product} Block Device Guide_ for more information.

Description Jason Dillaman 2020-03-16 15:06:46 UTC
RHCS 3 included support for an RBD image trash where images could be moved instead of being immediately deleted. The previous suggestion for periodically pruning the RBD image trash was to run a 'cron'-like job to issue "rbd trash purge <pool-name>".

Starting with RHCS 5, storage administrators can schedule periodic trash purge operations via the CLI.
