Description Petr Lautrbach 2020-04-02 08:30:56 UTC
This bug was initially created as a copy of Bug #1794314

I am copying this bug because:

Yes

Description of problem:
I have installed "setools", expecting it to pull in setools-console and/or setools-gui, just like many other similar metapackages do. However, this apparently doesn't work, because the "setools" RPM only depends on python3-setools. This is confusing at best and the "setools" package seemingly serves no useful purpose for most users. Perhaps its description should be amended?

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
setools-4.2.2-1.fc31.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. dnf remove setools-*
2. dnf install setools

Actual results:
Neither setools-console nor setools-gui are installed, "sesearch" is not available.

Expected results:
A "collection of graphical tools, command-line tools, and Python modules" should be installed according to the description of the "setools" package.
