Some of my own entries that may be related, in case they help: Apr 06 20:40:31 localhost.localdomain systemd[929]: Created slice dbus\x2d:1.2\x2dorg.freedesktop.secrets.slice. Apr 06 20:40:31 localhost.localdomain systemd[929]: Started dbus-:1.2-org.freedesktop.secrets. Apr 06 20:40:31 localhost.localdomain gnome-keyring-daemon[1333]: The Secret Service was already initialized Apr 06 20:40:31 localhost.localdomain gnome-keyring-d[1333]: The Secret Service was already initialized Apr 06 20:40:31 localhost.localdomain gnome-keyring-daemon[5320]: SSH_AUTH_SOCK=/run/user/1000/keyring/ssh Apr 06 20:40:31 localhost.localdomain systemd[929]: dbus-:1.2-org.freedesktop.secrets: Succeeded. Apr 06 20:40:56 localhost.localdomain evolution-sourc[2343]: secret_monitor_scan_secrets_thread: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freedesktop.secrets: Timeout was reached I am trying to connect to a Linux Server from a Windows client with either TigerVNC or RealVNC, avoiding SSVNC.. I already managed some encryption settings because apparently either of my clients cannot support an unknown type (18) of security, which on the server seems to be 'tls-anon', so I added 'none' to that setting and am probably using unencrypted now by client preference. I come from a background of having to install servers manually, and that did actually work before, but have since tried removing that service, so try to use the default gnome/X11 one. I can connect and get password prompt client-side, but when I submit, it times out with password check fail. I found this message randomly trying to search the right log: Apr 09 13:20:42 localhost.localdomain gnome-remote-de[129232]: Couldn't retrieve VNC password: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freedesktop.secrets: Timeout was reached. I can't see that service in my listing at all. I have tried playing with `/usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon --start --components=secrets` I found from `/etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-secrets.desktop` without success. Again, with more detail, this is on a Fedora 31 (Workstation Edition) x86_64 system, where I could not install F31 or F30 directly, and had to hop from the F25 cd/dvd I still had. This message is a reminder that Fedora 31 is nearing its end of life. Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 31 on 2020-11-24. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '31'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 31 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. Fedora 31 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2020-11-24. Fedora 31 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. The needinfo request[s] on this closed bug have been removed as they have been unresolved for 1000 days |
