Now it's working, maybe some other component has been upgraded. Anyway, something strange was happening here.

--- Additional comment from Devin Henderson on 2017-07-13 04:42:18 UTC ---

I'm having this problem as well and it seems to be causing chrome and other chromium-based browsers to take forever to start.

--- Additional comment from Devin Henderson on 2017-07-13 04:51:33 UTC ---

After cleaning up my f26 upgrade by running `rpmconf -a` and rebooting, this stopped happening. Hope that helps.

--- Additional comment from Ildar Akhmetgaleev on 2017-07-14 06:31:32 UTC ---

Almost same here. After upgrade from 25 yo 26 gnome-keyring works only in first login after boot. After logout and re-login I can not access my keyring anymore.

Yeah that seems to be the behavior I'm seeing as well. The first login after a reboot works but it breaks on subsequent logins.

--- Additional comment from AsciiWolf on 2017-08-03 21:28:57 UTC ---

I am having the same issue on clean Fedora 26 installation. The only thing I did was adding my Google account.

--- Additional comment from AsciiWolf on 2017-08-03 21:38:47 UTC ---

(Fully updated, clean Fedora 26 Workstation amd64.)

--- Additional comment from Charles Rose on 2017-09-11 14:07:10 UTC ---

I see a similar issue with F26. VPN connections fail to ask me for a password and I see the gnome-keyring messages.

Restarting dbus made the issue go away (but also logs me out of gnome). I can at least get it to work without a reboot.

--- Additional comment from on 2017-09-14 03:23:05 UTC ---

I have been able to reproduce this problem on F26 with additional details. The problem seems to be related to premature termination of user under systemd, where "XXX" is the UID of the user. Here are step-by-step instructions for reproduction. I have reproduced the problem with a fully up-to-date Fedora 26 machine as of the date of this posting.

Note 1: The problem occurs under Gnome, but not under XFCE4 sessions.
Note 2: The system under test was a VM running under KVM/QEMU. However, the host system also displays the symptoms.

   PREPARATION

1) Open two shells on the system for a user other than the one being tested.
In shell (A) run "watch systemctl status user-XXX.slice".
In shell (B) run "watch systemctl status user".
Where "XXX" is the UID of the user to be tested.
At this time, both (A) and (B) will show "inactive".

   CONTROL TESTS

2) Log in to the Gnome session.
Now, both (A) and (B) show "active".

3) Log out of the Gnome session.
Both (A) and (B) show "inactive".

4) Open an SSH session to the system.
Both (A) and (B) show "active".

5) Exit the SSH session.
Both (A) and (B) show "inactive".

   TRIGGER PROBLEM

6) Open an SSH session to the system.
Log in to the Gnome session.
Both (A) and (B) show "active".

7) In the Gnome session, run Utilities/Passwords and Keys.
The "login" keyring is displayed, along with other services.
   Exit Passwords and Keys.

8) Log out of the Gnome session.
   (A) shows "active".
   (B) shows "inactive". <== INCORRECT

   DEMONSTRATE SYMPTOM

9) Log into the Gnome session.
   (A) shows "active".
   (B) shows "inactive" <== INCORRECT

10) In the Gnome session, run Utilities/Passwords and Keys.
The "login" keyring is not displayed. <== INCORRECT
    Exit Passwords and Keys.

    CLEANUP

11) Log out of the Gnome session.
    (A) shows "active".
    (B) shows "inactive". <== INCORRECT

12) Exit the SSH session.
Both (A) and (B) show "inactive" <== CORRECT

This message is a reminder that Fedora 26 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 26. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '26'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 26 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Fedora 26 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2018-05-29. Fedora 26
is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any
further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.

Still happening on F29.

--- Additional comment from Brian J. Murrell on 2018-12-17 13:32:53 UTC ---

To exacerbate the frustration with this issue, it seems that nothing short of a complete reboot resolves it. Logging the user out and back in to the gnome-session does not resolve it, even if one makes sure to kill all lingering processes owned by the user after the logout.

Maybe this is some kind of problem with the system [d-]bus or something of that sort?

Apr 06 20:40:56 localhost.localdomain evolution-sourc[2343]: secret_monitor_scan_secrets_thread: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freedesktop.secrets: Timeout was reached

I am trying to connect to a Linux Server from a Windows client with either TigerVNC or RealVNC, avoiding SSVNC..
I already managed some encryption settings because apparently either of my clients cannot support an unknown type (18) of security, which on the server seems to be 'tls-anon', so I added 'none' to that setting and am probably using unencrypted now by client preference.

I come from a background of having to install servers manually, and that did actually work before, but have since tried removing that service, so try to use the default gnome/X11 one.

I can connect and get password prompt client-side, but when I submit, it times out with password check fail. I found this message randomly trying to search the right log:

Apr 09 13:20:42 localhost.localdomain gnome-remote-de[129232]: Couldn't retrieve VNC password: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freedesktop.secrets: Timeout was reached.

I can't see that service in my listing at all. I have tried playing with `/usr/bin/gnome-keyring-daemon --start --components=secrets` I found from `/etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-keyring-secrets.desktop` without success.

Again, with more detail, this is on a Fedora 31 (Workstation Edition) x86_64 system, where I could not install F31 or F30 directly, and had to hop from the F25 cd/dvd I still had.
