Hi,

with the version in the Fedora-repos (Version 2020.03.24) you'll get the error message:

$ youtube-dl -F "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTz98SUZJcc"
[youtube] KTz98SUZJcc: Downloading webpage
ERROR: No video formats found; please report this issue on https://yt-dl.org/bug . Make sure you are using the latest version; see  https://yt-dl.org/update  on how to update. Be sure to call youtube-dl with the --verbose flag and include its complete output.

Indeed, youtube-dl works against fast moving targets, and therefore sometimes needs to be updated "on the spot". Fedora used to manage a delay of a few days (going through the whole update, packaging, distribution, karma process), which may or may not have been okay for the user.

And now, even that maintenance seems dead.

I have resorted to downloading the packed "binary" from Github for every new release. Since I recently needed it on several platforms, and also some personal patches, I have build my own RPM in a copr. I have also noticed this copr, but it's not quite upto date yet: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/elxreno/youtube-dl/

I was able to build a package of the latest version with only minor edits to the spec file.
Till, do you need help maintaining this package? I would be glad to co-maintain if you do.
