Description Horst H. von Brand 2006-03-09 21:13:31 UTC
Description of problem:
When configuring the display here, I get only modelines for 1280x800 and
768x576. Before I was able to also get 800x600 and 640x480, which I need for
some/many external overhead projectors. But now those modes don't work.

As the relevant modelines haven't changed from earlier X.org configuration
files, I presume some bug that allowed to use resolutions without modelines was
fixed in the interim... please unfix ;-)

[This is a Toshiba notebook, and it is broken in that it can use either the LCD
panel or an external screen, but only (!) if plugged in on bootup, no
switching or using both; the panel resolution is irrelevant when using an
external screen, and viceversa]

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.0.1-8 (which is not one of the listed components, BTW)

"I get only modelines" in what? system-config-display? Or has the X
server been configured for those modes, but is rejecting them?

We haven't changed anything of the sort.'

This is the correct component, as bugzilla components are that of the
source code rpm (src.rpm).

Always attach your X server log and config file to all X server or video driver
related bug reports, as individual uncompressed file attachments, as they are
almost always useful to engineering, and it saves a round trip of having to
wait for them to be attached at a later time.

Thanks in advance.

When using system-config-display, I only get modelines for large sizes, not the
standard (800x600, 640x400) ones, and I can't use them. If I place them into the
xorg.conf file Section Screen, SubSection Display, Modes, I can't select them at
all. Only the standard 1280x800 mode works. If I delete the standard modes, I
can use the low modes... but only them.

This should be working as of s-c-d 1.0.45-1 and later. Please test and reopen
if this bug still occurs for you.
