Description of problem:
Backup procedure creates an LVM snapshot of a filesystem, then uses dump to
backup the snapshot to a file on another filesystem.  This process
intermittently (perhaps once a week) causes a system-wide hang.

Intermittent, not easily reproducable.

Please try the update 3 kernel - there've been some fixes to the snapshot code.

If you still see problems, reopen and get diagnostics using the sysrq facility
with 't' and 'm' etc.  [see Documentation/sysrq.txt in the kernel source]
