Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 185533
dump of LVM snapshot intermittently causes system hang
Last modified: 2007-11-30 17:07:24 EST
Description of problem:
Backup procedure creates an LVM snapshot of a filesystem, then uses dump to
backup the snapshot to a file on another filesystem. This process
intermittently (perhaps once a week) causes a system-wide hang.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Intermittent, not easily reproducable.
Steps to Reproduce:
Please try the update 3 kernel - there've been some fixes to the snapshot code.
If you still see problems, reopen and get diagnostics using the sysrq facility
with 't' and 'm' etc. [see Documentation/sysrq.txt in the kernel source]
